Finding Your Feet in the Fast Lane

At Six Sport, we work at the intersection of performance, culture and commercial impact, partnering with some of the most ambitious properties in global sport.

From the technical intensity of motorsport to the heritage and community of rugby union, our work spans disciplines, audiences and continents.

Three months into his role, we caught up with Joe Norman to reflect on his first chapter at the agency, and what working across elite sport has taught him so far.

Three months in, how does it feel?

"Honestly, energising. It’s rare to join a business where the work is this varied and this close to the action. One week you’re immersed in the global scale and precision of motorsport, the next you’re working within the deep-rooted culture of rugby union. The common thread is performance, but the personalities, pressures and pace are different every time. That’s what makes it exciting."

What’s stood out most?

"How personal sport is, even at the highest commercial level. We talk a lot about rights structures, partnerships and growth strategies, which are obviously critical. But underneath all of that are fans who care deeply, athletes carrying expectation, and organisations protecting decades of legacy. That emotional layer is powerful. It reminds you that what we do isn’t just commercial, it’s cultural."

What have you been focused on during these first few months?

"Listening and learning. Every property has its own ecosystem, different governance models, commercial priorities, internal dynamics. You can’t walk in assuming you have all the answers. I’ve focused on understanding what success genuinely looks like for our clients, building strong relationships, and contributing where I can add clarity or momentum. Trust is built through consistency, not noise."

Has working across different sports changed how you think?

"Definitely. Motorsport is incredibly data-driven and globally orchestrated. Rugby union is grounded in tradition and community identity. They operate differently, but both are navigating similar questions around growth, relevance and fan engagement. It’s reinforced that there’s no one-size-fits-all solution in sport. Context matters. Culture matters. And nuance really matters."

What’s motivating you looking ahead?

"The sense that sport is evolving quickly, and that agencies like ours have a real role to play in shaping that evolution. There’s huge opportunity in how properties connect with fans, how partnerships create deeper value, and how performance translates beyond the field of play. Personally, I’m excited to keep learning, keep building relationships, and keep contributing to work that makes a tangible impact. The standards here are high, but that’s exactly why it’s such a rewarding place to be."
